3D Map Installation
Leading Complex Fabrication: Large-Scale Map Installation Project
As project lead for an ambitious 23' x 9' CNC carved map installation, I demonstrated the ability to transform high-concept artistic vision into physical object through strategic problem-solving and collaborative leadership. By fostering close partnerships between artists, institutions, and fabricators, I guided this project from concept to completion while significantly optimizing costs and technical specifications.

Leadership
To complete this project required near-daily collaboration with several fabricators and cross-institutional stakeholders over a five month period.
One primary challenge was orchestrating a manufacturing shift mid-project from the originally specified laser cutting to CNC fabrication. Making this strategic pivot, combined with a substrate material shift from expensive architectural panels to an easy-to-work-with painted MDF, resulted in a 50% reduction in project costs while still maintaining the as-designed original artistic integrity.

Multi-angle approach
This project Involved continuous refinement of specifications, real-time problem-solving, and carefully balancing artistic and curatorial visions with significant technical constraints.
By maintaining constant communication channels and building strong collaborative relationships between stakeholders, I successfully managed multiple design iterations, file modifications, and technical limitations while keeping the project on track.

Phase 2
Managing the complex fabrication cycle was only the first stage. Once the completed map was in-house, a complex integration phase began - where I led my team in transforming the CNC-fabricated elements into a raised screen for 3 vertical projectors - a sophisticated table structure with projected images.
This final stage required precise coordination of construction, technical integration, and multimedia elements to meet exact project specifications. Successfully merging outsourced physical fabrication at scale with an ambitious in-house technical phase demonstrates my ability to guide cross-disciplinary teams through complex technical challenges while maintaining focus on overall project objectives.

Driving Successful Outcomes
This project showcases my ability to lead technical challenges requiring multiple stakeholder coordination and adapt quickly to major systemic changes. I was able to maintain project momentum, drive cost optimization, and balance artistic vision with practical constraints.
Maintaining effective cross-team communication was key throughout the process of guiding teams through complex construction and technical implementation.
